With the stock knobbies, you have a very capable off-road bike, and by adding a set of 17" supermoto wheels and tires, you can also have a very capable corner carver for the street. Converting a WR250R to a supermoto is pretty straightforward. All you really need is a good set of 17" supermoto wheels like the ones we use from Warp 9 Racing, and then some sticky supermoto tires like the Bridgestones we use (see details below). There are a few things you need to do to fit the smaller 17" wheels/tires. Up front, in order to clear the smaller 17" supermoto tire, you have to re-route the front brake line to the outside of the fork leg and also trim the plastic lower fork protectors so they clear the front tire. With the 17" supermoto wheels/tires, the bike will stand straight up when you put the stock R model kickstand down, so you'll need a shorter kickstand, like the one we carry from the WR250X. As for a rear sprocket, the gearing you choose is a personal preference type of thing, but on our bike we went with a 42T rear sprocket, which also happens to be what the WR250X Supermoto's came stock with. Our WR250R Supermoto is currently equipped with the following mods and accessories, all of which will work on any 2008+ Yamaha WR250R or WR250X... Supermoto Speific Parts - Wheels, Tires, etc: - Black Rims, Blue Hubs, Blue Nipples, Silver Spokes - Warp 9 Racing Rear Sprocket, Black, 42T Engine/Performance: Lighting/Electrical: Protection: Cockpit: Lowering: Miscellaneous: Drivetrain: ** NOTE: We are going to be switching to a 45T rear sprocket so that our bike accelerates a little better.
