We get alot of emails and phone calls about replacing the stock headlight, tail light and turn signals on the Suzuki DRZ400S and DRZ400SM, so we decided to put together this lighting guide. I've broke it down into several different sections...

- REPLACING THE FACTORY HEADLIGHT BULB
- REPLACING THE FACTORY REAR TAIL LIGHT AND TURN SIGNALS
- REPLACING THE FACTORY FRONT TURN SIGNALS
- PACKAGE DEALS

REPLACING THE FACTORY HEADLIGHT BULB

DRZ400-Cyclops-LED-Headlight-Bulb

OPTION 1: Cyclops LED Headlight Bulb
If you're looking for the brightest headlight bulb available for your DRZ400S/SM, the Cyclops 10.0 H4 LED bulb is the answer. These are the brightest, smallest and most reliable H4 replacement LED bulbs available on the market today! They provide HID performance with all the benefits of LED, and are an amazing upgrade over the stock Halogen headlight bulb, or even the PIAA Halogen bulbs discussed above. The bright white light they provide will light up road hazards, and make you much more visible on the road.

REPLACING THE FACTORY REAR TAIL LIGHT AND TURN SIGNALS

    DRZ400-Edge2-Tail-Light-Kit

OPTION 1: Aftermarket Tail Light Kit with Internal Turn Signals That Flash Within The Tail Light Itself
One popular way to replace the stock DRZ400S/SM tail light assembly, is to install what is often referred to as an "Integrated Tail Light Kit" that has the turn signals integrated into the tail light so that they flash within the brake light area, and therefore external turn signals are not needed. This will give you the cleanest overall look, and also works great off-road since there are no external turn signals that can be broken off in a fall. Your best option for this type of setup is the 12oClockLabs Integrated Tail Light / Fender Eliminator Kit. It is completely plug-n-play, so it's the easiest to install, it has the brightest LED's, and has the best overall fit and finish of any of the others we've tried.

OPTION 2: Aftermarket Tail Light Kit with External LED Flashers/Turn Signals
Another way to get rid of that big ugly rear tail light assembly on the DRZ400S and DRZ400SM is to replace it with an aftermarket tail light kit / fender eliminator and a pair of bolt on LED turn signals/flashers. The best option out there for the tail light kit is the 12oClockLabs Tail Light / Fender Eliminator Kit. It is the easiest to install, has the brightest LED's, and has the best overall fit and finish of others we've tried. Another option is the DRC Edge2 Tail Light Kit. For LED turn signals that will bolt up to the side of either of those tail lights, we like the DRC Type 601 or Type 602's. Both tail light kits bolt directly to the sub-frame of the DRZ400S/SM, and the DRC Type 601/602 turns signals bolt to the sides of either tail light kit, giving you a nice compact tail light/turn signal assembly that looks 100x better than the stock unit.

REPLACING THE FACTORY FRONT TURN SIGNALS

OPTION 1: DRC Type 601 or Type 602 Flashers w/ DRC Mounting Brackets (shown above)
One of the more popular ways to get rid of the huge stock front turn signals on the DRZ400S/SM is to replace them with a pair of DRC Type 601 or Type 602 turn signals/flashers, using DRC Front Turn Signal Brackets to attach them to the upper fork triple clamp bolts (see photos). To get the new LED turn signals/flashers to operate as running lights AND to flash at the slow stock flash rate, see the section labeled "Other Products To Consider" at the bottom of this page.

OPTION 2: Zeta Armor Hand Guards with Zeta XC Flasher Protectors (shown above)
Another popular way to replace the stock DRZ400S/SM turn signals is to purchase a set of Zeta Armor Handguards along with the Zeta XC Flasher Protectors (see photos). This trick little setup integrates a pair of turn signals/flashers into the plastic part of the hand guards. To get the new LED turn signals/flashers in the XC Protectors to operate as running lights AND to flash at the slow stock flash rate, see the section labeled "Other Products To Consider" at the bottom of this page.

    OTHER PRODUCTS TO CONSIDER

    12oclockLabs Running Light Adapters
Many bikes come from the factory with front turn signals/flashers that also operate as running lights when the bike is turned on and/or running. If you install aftermarket LED turn signals/flashers (like the DRC Type 601, DRC Type 602, or Zeta XC Flasher protectors) on the front of your DRZ, and you want them to work as running lights in addition to turn signals, you need to install a 12oclockLabs Running Light Adapter.

12oclockLabs Fixed Rate Turn Signal Flasher
If you install aftermarket LED turn signals/flashers, like the DRC Type 601, DRC Type 602, or even the Zeta XC Flasher protectors, they will flash at a faster rate than the stock turn signals did. This is because OEM flashers are designed for standard bulbs which draw a few watts each, much more than typical aftermarket bulbs or LED signals. If you want your new LED's to flash at the slower rate of the factory turn signals, you will need to install a 12oclockLabs Fixed Rate Turn Signal Flasher.

12oclockLabs DRC Edge2 Processor Upgrade Board
The standard DRC Edge Tail Light mentioned several times above is pretty bright, but if you want something even brighter, then you will want to install a 12oclockLabs DRC Edge2 Processor Upgrade Board into your standard DRC Edge Tail Light. Not only does it make the standard Edge Tail Light brighter, but it also has features like safety brake pulsing and integrated turn signals.

    12oclockLabs Programmable Animated Turn Signals
12oClockLabs has created one of the coolest LED turn signals available on the market. These LED flashers feature programmable animated turn signal technology, packed into a compact motorcycle turn signal. With 8 selectable turn signal modes, built in running light adapter capability, and internal flash rate control capability, this product delivers everything you have ever wanted out of an LED turn signal and more.
