 HANDGUARDS FOR THE YAMAHA TENERE 700 / T700: Handguards are one of the most popular modifications for the Yamaha Tenere 700. The bike comes stock with flimsy plastic "deflectors" that are not real handguards and offer very little protection. Proper protective handguards will protect your hands and the bikes controls from tree branches and other trail hazards, plus they can help prevent damage if you crash or drop your bike. Another side benefit is that they offer a bit of wind protection in cooler weather. We have simplified the whole process of buying the individual parts you need for handguards, by putting together a few package deals that allow you to select everything you need. The Tenere 700 comes with stock handlebars that have threaded ends instead of hollow ends like normal handlebars, so if you are retaining the stock handlebars you will want handguards that have the proper threaded inserts. If you've switched to aftermarket aluminum handlebars with hollow ends, you can use a more standard type of handguard with regular inserts. OUR RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE STOCK THREADED HANDLEBARS: OPTION 1: Tenere 700 Zeta Adventure Armor Handguards If you are running the stock T700 handlebars and want a strong and durable handguard, the Zeta Adventure Armor Handguards is the way to go. The Adventure Armor Handguards have the proper threaded bar end inserts, and a U-Clamp mounting kit that clamps the in-board part of the handguard to the handlebars. They also come pre-drilled for mounting of the optional Zeta XC protector shields and Zeta LED flashers/turn signals. Links: OPTION 2: Tenere 700 Barkbusters Handguard Kit If you have the the stock T700 handlebars and want a strong and durable handguard, the Barkbusters Handguard is one way to go. These handguards have the proper threaded bar end inserts, and a U-Clamp mounting kit that clamps the in-board part of the handguard to the handlebars. They also include bar end weights, which is something unique that Barkbusters offers with their handguards! Links: OPTION 3: Tenere 700 Cycra Voyager Handguards If you have the the stock T700 handlebars and want more of a wind deflector than a standard handguard, the new Cycra Voyagers might just be what you're looking for. They are high quality and specifically made for the Yamaha Tenere 700! They mount to the ends of the handlebar and wrap around the front to help deflect wind, but don't do much in the way of protection. Links: NOTE ON BAR END WEIGHTS: If you want bar end weights with your handguards (to help with vibration), you will want to choose the Barkbusters brand, which includes bar end weights with their handguard kit. The Zeta package does not include bar end weights, and you can't re-use the stock handlebar weights with any of these handguards. OUR RECOMMENDATIONS FOR STANDARD AFTERMARKET ALUMINUM HANDLEBARS: OPTION 1: Tenere 700 Zeta Adventure Armor Handguards w/ Zeta Handguard Insert Kit These handguards come with threaded inserts to fit the stock handlebars. But you can also mount them to standard hollow end handlebars, by using Zeta's handguard insert kit for their line of Armor handguards. You simply use that insert kit instead of the threaded inserts that come with the handguards. These Adventure Armor handguards also include a U-Clamp mounting kit that clamps the in-board part of the handguard to the handlebars. They also come pre-drilled for mounting of the optional Zeta XC protector shields and Zeta LED flashers/turn signals. Links: OPTION 2: Acerbis X-Factor Handguards Acerbis X-Factor Handguards are one of our new favorites when it comes to handguards for your adventure bike. These handguards are built for extreme riding conditions and feature an oversized 35mm black anodized bar, with a "C" shape design, which offers a higher level of impact resistance than standard aluminum handguards. The handlebar inserts are high quality and super durable compared to others on the market. The dual-injected polypropylene handguard shields are available in multiple colors, and feature a carbon fiber-like outter section that looks very trick. Handlebar clamps included will fit both 7/8" handlebars and 1 1/8" handlebars. Links: OPTION 3: Cycra Probend CRM Handguards These hand guards feature Cycra's CRM (Center Reach Mount) Clamps, which mount further in-board on the handlebars, providing maximum bite to secure the handguards, and also allowing for superior clearance on a wide range of handlebars.
