Keep reading... The Yamaha MT-09 is one of the most popular naked motorcycle on the market today. Out of the box, it's a pretty damn good motorcycle, and honestly the bike doesn't need much in the way of upgrades or improvements. But, you can do a few things to improve the overall look of the bike, improve performance and ride-ability, make it sound better, and it'll be much more fun to ride! We have a Yamaha MT-09 SP in the shop, which we've been using to test aftermarket parts for the last couple of years, and that project bike has helped us compile the list below. If you're interested in building the ultimate Yamaha MT-09, see below for our Top 5 recommendations (in no particular order).     #1 - Aftermarket Full Exhaust - Yamaha MT-09 Hands down, the #1 mod for the Yamaha MT-09 is an aftermarket exhaust. Not only is the stock exhaust not very easy on the eyes, but it's also a little too quiet for most riders, and pretty restrictive from a performance standpoint. Combining an aftermarket exhaust with a quality ECU re-flash will completely transform the bike. It will not only improve performance, but also sound much much better, and look much nicer too. We've tried three different exhaust systems on our Yamaha MT-09 SP Project bike. They're all excellent choices, but if we had to rank them, we'd go with the Yoshimura AT-2 Full Exhaust (top 2 photos above) as our top choice, followed closely by the Leo Vince LV Race Full Exhaust (bottom two photos above), and then the Akrapovic. PURCHASE AT THE FOLLOWING LINKS: Click link below...   #2 - Bar End Mirrors with Mirror Mount Sliders - Yamaha MT-09 Looking for the best way to mount bar end or clamp-on style mirrors on your 2024+ Yamaha MT-09 / MT-09 SP or 2021-2023 Yamaha MT-09 / SP ? Keep reading. On our 2024 Yamaha MT-09 SP Project Bike, we noticed right away that the stock mirrors, especially the left side mirror, didn't provide good visibility and you're staring directly at your shoulders. Plus we didn't like the way the mirrors looked on the bike. Immediately we pulled the stock mirrors, and installed CRG bar end mirrors with the very trick Rhino Moto Bar End Sliders that have Mirror Mounts built into them. These bar end sliders not only mount your mirrors, but they also act as sliders and protect the ends of your handlebars in the event of a drop or crash. From a functional standpoint, each of the 3 CRG mirrors we carry offer excellent visibility. From a looks standpoint, we think the angular shape of the CRG Arrow mirrors (shown in photos above) best match the lines on the MT-09. Our next favorite would be the 2" round CRG Blindsight LS, which is a mirror we use on several of our project bikes. If you want something slightly larger than the Blindsight LS, go with the 3" round CRG Hindsight LS. This mirror / bar end setup really transforms the look of the bike, and as mentioned, visibility is much improved over the OEM mirrors. PURCHASE AT THE FOLLOWING LINK: Click link below...   #3 - Fender Eliminator Kit / Tail Tidy - Yamaha MT-09 If you want to improve the look of your Yamaha MT-09, one of the best mods is a rear fender eliminator kit / tail tidy. We've installed several different kits on our Yamaha MT-09 SP Project bike over the last couple years. Our personal favorite is the Yoshimura V2 Fender Eliminator Kit (top photo above), and it's the one we're currently running on our project bike. This kit re-uses the stock tail light, and provides a license plate mount with LED license light, and also mounts for your stock turn signals. It really improves the look of the bike quite a bit! Previously we had the NRC Fender Eliminator kit on the bike (bottom photo above), and it also re-uses the stock tail light, but provides LED turn signals that mount just to the side and underneath the tail light, and then there is a tucked license plate mount with an LED license plate light. Both of these kits will fit the 2024+ Yamaha MT-09's. We recommend, at a minimum, installing a radiator guard to protect that expensive radiator from road debris being kicked up off your front tire, and frame sliders that could help limit damage, whether it be a simple tip over in the garage, or a low side out on the street. Additionally, the Shogun swingarm spools we carry allow you to lift your bike, and also act as sliders to help protect your swingarm. Both feature an unbreakable lever with pivoting design, as well as adjustable reach with 4 inches of range via the micro-indexing dial reach adjuster. These levers also look much much better than the MT-09's sorta cheap looking stock levers. The F3 Series are available in a nice looking black finish, with colored adjuster dials, and the C5 Series is even sharper looking with the Black Bicolore finish.
