 Yoshimura AT2 Full Exhaust Sound Demo and Review on our Yamaha MT-09 SP Project Bike Click the YouTube video down below to watch a quick video clip of this Yoshimura AT2 Full Exhaust System installed on our 2024 Yamaha MT-09 SP Project Bike. The Yoshimura AT2 seems to be the most popular exhaust for the MT-09 platform, atleast from what we can tell from our sales numbers. This exhaust has it all, it looks great, performs really well, and sounds really good.  Installation: Installation was pretty straightforward. Instructions are posted on Yoshimura's website. The only tricky thing about installing exhaust systems on these bikes is the radiator being in the way, so you have to unbolt it and move it a bit to make room, otherwise a relatively easy install. Sound: This is the third different exhaust we've had installed on our MT-09 SP project bike, and I'd say this Yoshimura is the best sounding of the three, atleast to my ears. I will mention however that this system does not include any type of sound insert in the muffler, so it can be on the louder side. I personally wanted a little more stealthy sounding exhaust, and luckily Yoshimura does offer a couple sound insert kits for the AT2 mufflers to reduce the sound level. They currently offer two different kits that can be purchased directly from Yoshimura. Each of them reduces the sound by different amounts... We've installed the INS-27-K Sound Insert Kit in our muffler, and I think it's just about perfect. It still sounds really really good, without being overly loud. There's no lower RPM droning and even at higher RPM's the sound level is very tolerable.  Looks: To me this is one of the more aggressive looking exhaust systems for the MT-09 platform, and I personally really like the look. The header pipe is a one piece design and has Yoshimura's Works Finish, which will turn color after a few heat cycles and have a look similar to the titanium works components on factory race bikes. I also like the design of the AT2 muffler with the Works Finish and carbon fiber endcap, and the way the muffler tip ends just below the swingarm, that way you can still see the beautiful polished swingarm on the SP model (some other exhausts will cover the swingarm with the muffler). Fit and finish is typical Yoshimura.... it has a very high end look to it! Performance: When installing a full exhaust like this on the MT-09, we definitely recommend an ECU re-flash. In addition to the exhaust, we also have a Sprint P08 filter installed. We rode the bike a little bit with the new exhaust and filter prior to having the ECU flashed, and you could just tell the mapping wasn't quite right, with some stumbling and popping especially at lower RPM's. We sent our ECU out to vcyclenut, for one of the flashes he has specifically for this exhaust. All I can say is that his ECU flash totally changes the character of the bike. It runs so much better, and you definitely notice an overall improvement, but especially in 2nd gear which seemed excessively restricted on our bike.
