A REVIEW OF THE PUIG FENDER ELIMINATOR / TAIL TIDY AND MOTOGADGET LEDs FOR THE 2025+ YAMAHA MT-07:
The first tail light kit we could get our hands on for the newly revised 2025+ MT-07 was the one from Puig. We've used their kits on a few other bikes and they're always high quality, so we decided to install one on our MT-07 Project Bike. The Puig Fender Eliminator kit re-uses the stock tail light/brake light, and eliminates the large plastic piece that hangs off the back of the bike that holds your license plate and the stock turn signals. It's designed to be used with aftermarket LED turn signals, and does not include mounting brackets for the stock Yamaha turn signals, so keep that in mind. The Puig tail light kit is made from a combination of plastic and steel, using a rust resistant epoxy black finish, and it attaches to existing mounting points on the bike with no modifications. It also includes a high quality LED license plate light.
Because the Puig kit does not include mounting brackets that will work with the factory MT-07 turn signals, we decided to replace them with Motogadget's mo.blaze LED Turn Signals front and rear. These turn signals are probably the smallest, yet brightest, LED flashers on the market. We also wired in a 12oClockLabs front running light adapter to retain the front running lights on the bike, and we also used 12oClockLabs turn signal mounting plates to mount the front signals.
Puig Fender Eliminator Kit Installation:
Installation of the tail light kit is pretty straightforward. The stock tail light / brake light stays put, and you remove the large plastic piece holding your license plate and OEM turn signals. The Puig kit bolts right up to the sub-frame where that stock piece was, using hardware included with the kit. There is also an LED license plate light that attaches just above the license plate mount. One nice touch with the Puig kit, they include black plastic plugs that cover any of the exposed mounting hardware, giving it a more finished look.
Motogadget mo.blaze LED Turn Signal Installation:
As mentioned, this Puig kit does not have mounting brackets that work with the Yamaha stock turn signals, instead it comes with brackets designed to mount aftermarket LED turn signals. So, you can use pretty much any aftermarket turn signal with a threaded stud, and we decided to use one of our favorites, the very small, but bright, Motogadget mo.blaze LED Turn Signals. Mounting those to the Puig kit was simple, but these are universal turn signals, so they do not include plug-n-play connectors for the MT-07. We cut the connector plugs off of our stock turn signals, and attached them to Motogadget wiring using bullet crimp connectors, that way we could just plug them right back into the rear turn signal harness like the stock signals were. We did the same thing for the front turn signals, but also wired in 12oClockLabs turn signal running light adapter (Universal Model) so that those LED's would work both as running lights (like the stock signals do) and turn signals.
Final Verdict:
The Puig tail tidy really cleans up the back end of the Yamaha MT-07 very nicely, and improves the overall look of the bike quite a bit. The fact that the kit does not let you re-use your stock turn signals might be a turn off for some, but we sort of wanted to get rid of those turn signals anyways since they're so long and stick out quite a bit from the bike. The smaller Motogadget LED's we used just look so much better and are probably actually brighter overall. If you want a fender eliminator kit that gives you a traditional license plate mounting location, I think this Puig kit fits the bill very nicely, and the Motogadget LED's are our personal favorites, and look great on any bike, including the MT-07.
