MOUNTING AFTERMARKET MIRRORS ON YOUR HONDA CB750 HORNET:
What are the best aftermarket mirrors for the Honda CB750 Hornet? Keep reading.... The stock mirrors are one of the very first things we usually replace on our project bikes, for a couple reasons. Normally they do not look that great, and a lot of times they don't provide the best visibility. This was exactly the case with our Honda CB750 Hornet project bike, and we definitely wanted to replace the stock mirrors not only for the better look, but also improved functionality and visibility. On previous builds we've used a combination of Rhino Moto bar end slider / mirror mounts along with CRG Bar End mirrors. You simply can't go wrong with products from these two companies, and we probably have their products on 4 or 5 of our builds.
We put together a Bar End Mirror Kit for the Honda CB750 Hornet that provides everything you need to mount aftermarket mirrors...
Rhino Moto Bar End Sliders:
These trick parts from Rhino Moto, as shown in photo above, not only act as mounts for your mirrors, but they also act as sliders and protect the ends of your handlebars in the event of a drop or crash. Installation is very simple since these are designed to thread into the threaded inserts in the ends of the stock CB750 handlebars. All you do is remove the stock bar ends, which are a plastic press-in design, so you just need to wiggle them back and forth to pull them out of the handlebars. The Rhino Bar Ends then insert into the ends of the handlebars, and the included long bolts thread right in to the threaded inserts that are about an inch or so inside the handlebars. Once mounted, they are very solid.
CRG Mirrors:
We tested several different CRG bar end mirrors on our CB750 Hornet project bike. All of these mirrors have clamps that will fit directly into the channel on each of the Rhino Bar Ends discussed above, to secure them to the mounts. If you want a traditional round mirror, go with either the 2" CRG Blindsight LS folding mirror, or the 3" Hindsight LS folding mirrors. We ended up going with the CRG Arrow mirrors on our CB750, as shown in the photos above, because the angular look of these mirrors really works well with the angular design of the CB750 Hornet gas tank and bodywork.
All of these mirrors provide excellent visibility and do not vibrate. Additionally the LS style folding mirrors, and the Arrow mirrors, can be folded out of the way when necessary.
Mirror Hole Plugs:
One thing to note, when you install these mirrors on the CB750, you'll pull off the bikes stock mirrors, which then leaves the threaded holes in the clutch and brake lever perches. So, we also offer optional Honda CB750 Mirror Hole Plugs to plug the holes left when removing the stock mirrors, They're available in several colors, we went with Red on our bike. See photo above.
Which mirrors look best on the Honda CB750 Hornet?
We get this question alot. Looks are obviously subjective, but we think the angular shape of the CRG Arrow mirrors best matches the lines on the CB750, and that's what we're using on our CB750 Project Bike. Our next favorite would be the 2" round CRG Blindsight LS, which is a mirror we use on several of our project bikes. If you want something slightly larger than the Blindsight LS, go with the 3" round CRG Hindsight LS. All of these CRG mirrors look much much better than the stock mirrors, and they are more functional as well since you can see much better out of a bar end style mirror.
