Even though we specialize in dual sports and supermotos, we occasionally venture into other types of bikes, and recently we acquired a 2018 Yamaha MT-10. The bike already has a few basic mods, but we plan to do a few things to it like we usually do. ;-)

This bike falls into the hyper naked category. In comparison tests, it was often king of the Japanese hyper nakeds, and usually slotted in just underneath the European offerings like the more expensive Aprilia Tuono 1100 Factory, KTM Super Duke 1290 and Ducati Streetfigher V4S. The bike's engine is definitely it's best asset, with the CP4 regarded by many as one of the best engines in motorcycling. Combine that with it's buttery smooth quick shifter, and the bike will make you feel like a MotoGP racer. The sound and sensory overload the bike provides is on another level. The brakes are descent, as is the stock fully adjustable suspension. Consider all of that, and then Yamaha's reputation for quality / reliabily, and I don't think you can really beat one of these. Sure I'd love to sample the Aprilia, Ducati, or KTM, but the price tag on those is considerably higher. Here are some of the stock specs...

    2018 YAMAHA MT-10 - OUR CURRENT SETUP...
As of the Spring of 2025, here are the parts and accessories currently installed:

    ENGINE/PERFORMANCE:
When we got the bike, it had a Leo Vince Link pipe installed with the stock muffler, and an ECU flash. That setup worked pretty nicely and actually sounded real good without being too loud. I wanted something that looked a little nicer, and Graves is one of our favorites, so we did their Cat-Eliminator Carbon exhaust setup, their block off plates, and a Sprint P08 filter. Graves has a specific map for this exact exhaust, so we used the Flash Tune kit to re-flash the ECU. The bike runs just about perfect now, and it sounds great too... just slightly louder than before, but very tolerable. These bikes have one of the best exhaust notes in motorcycling by the way!
  • Graves Cat-Eliminator Slip-On Exhaust from Revzilla
  • Flash Tune Data-Link ECU Flashing Kit from Revzilla **
** Used this to flash the ECU with Graves specific map for their slip-on exhaust

  • Graves Smog Block Off Plates from Revzilla
  • Servo Buddy from Revzilla
  • Sprint P08 Filter

    COCKPIT:
The bike still had the fugly stock mirrors when we got it, so we immediately pulled those and went with our tried and true CRG Blindsight Mirrors with the Rhino bar end sliders w/mirror mounts. This setup works perfectly on these bikes, and the Rhino bar ends thread right into the ends of the stock Yamaha handlebars. We also did ASV Levers, which I'm a big fan of. Be careful on these though, the Shorty version is a very short 2 finger design, so I tend to only use them on the brake side and do the standard 3 finger on the clutch side because I prefer a bit longer lever there.
  • CRG Blindsight LS Mirrors from SRmoto
  • Rhino Bar End Sliders w/ Mirror Mounts from SRmoto
  • TechSpec Snake Skin Tank Pads from Revzilla
  • ASV C5 Clutch Lever from Revzilla
  • ASV C5 Brake Lever from Revzilla

    BODY:
Everything listed below was on the bike when we got it, and so far I haven't felt the need to change anything or add anything new. The radiator and oiler cooler guards are must-have items on these bikes, and should be one of the first things new owners add.
  • LighTech Chain Adjusters from Revzilla
  • Evotech Performance Radiator Guard from Revzilla
  • Evotech Performance Oil Cooler Guard from Revzilla
  • Competition Werkes Fender Eliminator Kit from Revzilla
  • Shogun Frame/Engine Sliders from Revzilla
  • Shogun Swingarm Sliders / Stand Supports from Revzilla
  • R&G Racing Kickstand Foot from Revzilla
  • Woodcraft Engine Case Guards

    LIGHTING/ELECTRICAL:
  • Antigravity ATZ-10 ReStart Lithium Ion Battery from Revzilla

    TIRES:
The tires were shot when we got this bike (bought used) so we went with one of our favorites, the Bridgestone S22. You simply can't go wrong with these tires!
  • Bridgestone S22 Tires from Revzilla

    SUSPENSION:
It's got pretty good fully adjustable suspension from the factory, and so far it's perfectly adequate for me. I'm not tracking the bike (yet) so the stock stuff is perfectly fine on a higher end bike like this.

    DRIVE:
  • EK ZVX3 Chain (525 / Gold) from SRmoto
  • Vortex Rear Sprocket, 42T (stock is 43T)

    BRAKES:
The brakes were not that responsive when we first got the bike, but typically adding some more aggressive brake pads will make a big difference, and so far I'm very pleased with the EBC pads...
  • EBC Sintered Front Brake Pads from Revzilla
  • EBC Sintered Rear Brake Pads from Revzilla

    CARBON FIBER:
IMHO these bikes are too plastic-y from the factory, so I added a few bits of carbon fiber from Motocomposites just to spice things up a bit. The front fender and rear hugger really set it off, and the other smaller pieces finish things off nicely.
  • Carbon Fiber Rear Hugger from Motocomposites
  • Carbon Fiber Front Fender from Motocomposites
  • Carbon Fiber Chain Guard from Motocomposites
  • Carbon Fiber Windscreen from Motocomposites
  • Carbon Fiber Tail Fairings from Motocomposites
  • Carbon Fiber Tail Light Covers from Motocomposites

    MISCELLANEOUS:
  • Yamaha MT-10 Factory Service Manual from Revzilla

    PLANNED MODS AND UPGRADES:
  • Spiegler Front And Rear Brake Line Kit from Revzilla
  • MRA Windshield Spoiler Style
  • Domino Grips
  • Yamaha Comfort Seat
  • Programmable Brake Light Safety Pulser
  • Motogadget LED turn signals
