Even though we specialize in dual sports and supermotos, we’re suckers for modern retro bikes, and have a couple of them in the shop…
Yamaha XSR900 Project Bike
Kawasaki Z900RS Project Bike
BMW R9T Project Bike
Ducati Scrambler Flat Track Pro Project Bike
A few years ago we stumbled upon this very well setup 2019 Triumph Speed Twin, and thought it would make a great project bike. It was already very well equipped with some very trick parts, so we wouldn't need to do a lot to it. We've slowly been upgrading and changing a few parts here and there.... we swapped out the mirrors, did some additional tuning to make it run a little better, added a sump guard/skid plate, and the biggest thing was addressing the brakes, which weren’t the best IMHO.
These are awesome bikes, with a very torquey motor, that has a lot of character, and a great soundtrack. I also think they’re one of the nicest looking modern retro’s on the market. Things like dual rear shocks, dual exhaust pipes, twin dials instead of a TFT display, really set these bikes apart from the rest of the modern retro's on the market. And don’t let the vintage looks fool you… sure this bike is great for leisurely backroad cruising, but it’s also got near sport bike level handling if you want to push the pace a little. Here are some of the stock specs…
