      If you ride your CRF450L/RL off-road, a steering stabilizer is one of the best mods you can do to the bike! It will transform the handling in rough conditions, and make the bike much easier to ride. Scotts offers two different Steering Stabilizer Kits for the Honda CRF450L / CRF450RL.... a Top Mount Kit and a SUB Mount Kit. We carry their SUB Mount Kit, and it's the one we run on our CRF450RL project bike, and feel it is the best choice of the two for the CRF450L / RL. Fitment: 2019+ Honda CRF450L / CRF450RL ** ** NOTE: Works only with stock triple clamps. WHAT YOU GET: One (1) Scotts Stabilizer SUB Mount Kit for Honda CRF450L/RL "SUB" mount stands for Stabilizer Under Bars, meaning that the steering stabilizer is mounted under the handelbars. Their kit includes everything you need to mount a Scotts Steering Stabilizer on your bike, including new handlebar mount risers to raise the handlebars high enough to fit the Stabilizer. This kit is designed to be used with oversized handlebars (see Handlebar Recommendations below). Standard 7/8" handlebars, like the stock Renthals, can be used with Scotts optional reducer bushings. They've machined this SUB mount to give you 2 possible handlebar mounting locations. Position 1 is 3mm forward of the stock bar location and position 2 is 13mm forward of stock. The handlebar height is raised by 25mm. Mounting is compatible with the IMS fuel tank for this model. Scotts P/N: DS-SUB-6724-01. To order, choose those from the selection dropdown. Key Benefits: What is a Scotts Steering Stabilizer? It is a compact, fully adjustable, hydraulic shock absorbing damper, that mounts to your steering head area near your handlebar mount. It helps control the natural tendency of the “left to right” front end movements known as “head shake” on a motorcycle. By helping to stabilize the front end of your motorcycle, the rear of the motorcycle will track straighter allowing the rest of your suspension to work the way it was designed to. The result in stabilizing the front end means more precise steering also. In addition, the Scotts Steering Stabilizer eliminates that sudden "thrust-effect” of having the handlebars pulled from your hands after unknowingly hitting something unforeseen like rocks, tree roots, rain ruts and potholes. It also helps to minimize rider fatigue and the dreaded “arm-pump” situation that occurs while wrestling the front end of your bike, especially in rougher terrain. Once mounted, it dramatically reduces the unwanted phenomenon known as "Head-shake" that is commonly found on ALL off-road production motorcycles and especially predominant on road bikes once you let off the throttle and the front end dives, causing that “wobble” sensation from increased head angles. This is more predominant now a-days due to the steeper head angles you find on production bikes. It helps keep your motorcycle going straight in the whoops, reduces head shake approaching turns, and smooths out those rough sections by preventing those handlebar wrenching jolts. Handlebar Recommendations: This kit can be used with the stock 7/8" Renthal Handlebars if you order the optional Handlebar Reducers. It will also work with oversize 1 1/8" handlebars, and no Reducers are needed. Because the Scotts handelbar mounts/risers raise your handlebar height about 25mm you have to be careful with handlebar selection, otherwise you might need to replace cables, and it could cause triple clamp mounted handguards not to fit. On our CRF450L/RL project bike we didn't want to have to replace any cables, plus we have Zeta handguards installed with triple clamp mounts and still wanted those to work. We ended up going with Pro Taper Contour's in the "CR High" bend which worked out great. Another good choice for a handlebar would be the Renthal Fatbars in their 605-01 CR High or 839-01 CRF 2018+ bend, or the Pro Taper Contour "CR Mid" or "Henry/Reed" bend. Obviously other handlebar bends may work, but pay special attention to bar dimensions so you don't run into issues with the height causing cable issues.
